Shital Desai brings extensive experience in primary care and advanced practice nursing, with a strong focus on delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care. Her expertise spans clinical practice, care coordination and population health, all grounded in a commitment to holistic care that addresses the physical, mental and emotional well-being of each patient.
Since joining Wood River Health in 2015, Shital has played a key role in advancing high-quality clinical care and supporting the organization’s medical providers. As Lead Nurse Practitioner, she provides clinical leadership and works collaboratively with providers and care teams to strengthen patient-centered practices and improve health outcomes across the community.
Prior to joining Wood River Health, Shital gained experience in both hospital and outpatient settings, including her work as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital and as a nurse practitioner in private clinics and community health centers. Through these roles, she developed a strong foundation in providing compassionate, comprehensive care to diverse patient populations. Shital is known for her holistic approach to care, emphasizing the importance of addressing the full spectrum of patient needs to support healthier lives and improved outcomes.
Shital Desai holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Chamberlain University, a Master of Science in Nursing with specialization as an Adult Nurse Practitioner from Maryville University and completed a postgraduate program to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Missouri, St. Louis.
