Back to School Fair
Wood River Health and the Jonnycake Center of Westerly partner once again this year for a back-to-school fair to benefit local children. The third annual event took place on August 17, 2024 from 10am to 1pm at the Westerly Armory at 41 Railroad Avenue in Westerly. The event is sponsored in part by Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island.
Local organizations have come together for a third year to provide children with backpacks, school supplies, and educational items to ensure the school year starts strongly for all. Musical entertainment will be provided by WBLQ AM 1230, and there will also be games, face painting and craft tables!
During the Back to School Fair, families receive a free backpack that comes filled with essentials needed for school. The backpacks are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last, and school-aged children must be present to receive supplies.

Head to Toe Wellness Fair
Our third annual Wood River Health Head to Toe Wellness Fair took place on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on The Esplanade at Wilcox Park, 44 Broad Street, Westerly. Sponsored by Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island and in partnership with Westerly Library and Wilcox Park, this family-friendly event connects the members of our community with resources from many local non-profit organizations to cover them from head to toe.
The Wellness Fair is an opportunity for members of our community to connect with our providers and staff outside of a health care setting. It is also an opportunity for southwestern Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut residents to get their health-related questions answered outside of their doctor’s office.
The event is tailored towards families with children. It features free raffles, giveaways and activities for children. Health related information and resources are distributed by Wood River Health’s Medical, Dental, and Behavioral Health Services, our Community Resources Team and Women, Infants & Children (WIC) department and our community partners.
